Mark Burkey

Mark is an experienced expedition caver and cave diver. He is a valued member of one of the UK’s largest cave rescue teams and is an award-winning underground cave photographer.
His technical rope and rescue skills knowledge, learned from his extensive caving experience, led to a long career in the industrial rope access industry.
He spent over 10 years carrying out structural examinations of some of the UK’s most iconic buildings, bridges and structures. He has extensive experience in the installation, examination and testing of a range of EN795 safety systems and the examination of the PPE required to use them safely.
Mark joined the Safety Aloft team in 2024 and has since gained significant knowledge and experience in delivering specialist working aloft training courses, helping develop vessel specific SOPs and advising on the most suitable equipment for the particular working aloft activity.
